What You Notice in a Paint Job
You notice the cut line along the ceiling, the trim without brush marks, the patch that disappears instead of flashing through. Those come from prep: holes filled and sanded, glossy surfaces dulled, stains sealed and primer wherever the surface needs it.
We also ask about the choices people forget until the end, like which sheen goes on trim versus walls, whether ceilings stay white and where an accent color stops.
What We Paint
-
Inside the house
Bedrooms, hallways and stairwells, with furniture moved and covered, floors protected and every surface patched, sanded and primed where it needs it.
-
Woodwork and cabinets
Kitchen cabinets, interior doors, casings and baseboards, cleaned and sanded so the finish coat bonds well and dries smooth without brush strokes.
-
Exterior surfaces
Outside walls and trim scraped, caulked and primed where bare, then painted when temperature and moisture suit the product being applied.
-
Painting inside a remodel
On larger projects, painting comes last, scheduled after the dusty work so the new finish isn't scuffed by trades still working in the house.
Decide Before the First Coat
-
Sheen by surface
Flatter sheens hide wall flaws, while higher sheens clean more easily and suit trim, doors and cabinets. Choosing per surface now avoids repainting later.
-
Color placement
Where an accent wall ends, whether ceilings stay white and which color the trim takes will show for years, so settle them before we start.
-
Older homes
Paint applied before 1978 may contain lead, and that changes how surfaces are prepped and cleaned up. If your house is that old, we talk it through first.
Painting Questions
Will you paint just one room?
Yes. A single bedroom, a whole interior or the outside of the house can be its own project, and painting also closes out most of our larger remodels.
How many days does painting a room take?
Usually a few days. Heavy patching, lots of trim or high ceilings add time, and a whole interior takes longer; the schedule lists the rooms in the order we'll paint them.
Have Colors in Mind?
Describe the rooms or outside walls, the shape they're in and the colors you're leaning toward. We'll talk through prep, sheen and how long the work would take.
